Grabka Sports was born in 2023, just 2 months after pickleball was first introduced to its founders. What began as a simple curiosity quickly turned into a deep passion, one that would eventually grow into a thriving brand.
At the heart of this journey is Alfred Grabka, the founder whose dedication to the sport went far beyond casual play. Driven by a genuine desire to learn, Alfred immersed himself in every aspect of pickleball – from mastering game play to understanding the intricacies of paddles, gears and equipment.
The journey started humbly within small community sessions at Riviera Sports Club where players borrowed fiberglass paddles just to get a feel for the game. Soon after, the first personal set – simple wooden paddles paired with balls costing around 600PHP – marked the beginning of a deeper commitment.
As interest in the sport grew, so did the pursuit of knowledge. What started as buying affordable equipment evolved into a deeper exploration of paddle engineering, materials, and performance. This continuous learning process naturally led to a transition – from player to enthusiast, and eventually, to entrepreneur.
To sustain this passion and keep pace with the sport’s rapid growth, Alfred ventured into trading pickleball paddles, gears and equipment. While actively participating in recreational play and tournaments, Grabka Sports steadily built its presence within the community. Through consistent engagement and genuine passion, the brand gained recognition and trust among players.
By 2024, Grabka Sports established its presence online, expanding its reach and strengthening its growing community. It began organizing beginner camps, introductory programs, and community driven activities – making pickleball more accessible to new players while nurturing a supportive environment for enthusiasts.
The brand also extended its support by sponsoring individuals, clubs, and groups that shared the same vision of growing pickleball in the Philippines.
A major milestone came in May 2025, when Grabka Sports launched its first pop-up court at Vista Mall Nuvali, Santa Rosa. This initiative successfully built its first core community and reignited a bigger vision – to create a dedicated pickleball facility paired with a professional retail experience.
In June 2025, Grabka Sports expanded by further co-owning and partnering with The Pickleyard Dasma, followed by The Pickleyard SOMO in December of the same year. These strategic partnerships strengthened its footprint in the local pickleball scene and positioned its brand for long-term growth.
Building on this momentum, Grabka Sports officially announced its next chapter: the development of its own premier facility – Grabka Sports Center – alongside a dedicated retail hub, Grabka Pro Shop. These ventures represent the brand’s commitment to elevating the sport and creating a complete ecosystem where passion truly meets play.
